Compression happens only in your browser. The first run downloads the compression engine (about 11MB), so it may take a moment.

About the results
Most of a PDF's size comes from photos and images. Compression lowers image resolution and merges duplicate images and fonts, while text and shapes stay intact so they can still be copied and searched.
PDFs that are already compressed or mostly text may barely shrink. When that happens, the tool tells you the original is already smaller.
How It Works
How to compress a PDF
No need to hunt for a compression site or install software. Three steps on this page and you are done.
STEP 1
Pick a level
Choose Strong, Medium or Light. Medium works well for email attachments and online submissions.
STEP 2
Drop your file
Drag a PDF into the box or click Choose files. Progress is shown page by page.
STEP 3
Download the PDF
Check the size before and after, then download. With several files you can grab them all at once.
Why This Tool
What makes this PDF compressor different
Nothing is uploaded
Compression finishes inside your browser, so proposals, contracts and internal reports can be shrunk without sending them anywhere.
Text stays text
Pages are not flattened into pictures. Only images are adjusted, so text can still be copied and searched and stays sharp when zoomed.
No limits
No daily cap on files. Add several at once and compare their size before and after right away.
FAQ
PDF compression FAQ
Is this PDF compressor really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and nothing to install. Drop a PDF on this page and it is compressed right away. You can add several files at once.
Are my PDF files stored on a server?
No. Compression runs only inside the browser you are using, and the file content is never sent anywhere, including HADA Company's servers. The only network use is a one-time download of the compression engine.
How does PDF compression reduce file size?
Most of a PDF's size comes from the photos and images inside it. This tool rewrites the document with Ghostscript, downsamples images to the level you chose (72, 150 or 300 dpi), and merges duplicate images and fonts. Text and vector shapes are kept as they are, so you can still copy and search the text.
Which compression level should I choose?
Medium is the best fit for email attachments, online submissions and on-screen reading. Choose Strong if you have a tight attachment size limit, and Light if the document will be printed.
Does compression lower the quality?
Image resolution goes down, since that is where most of the size comes from. Text and shapes stay intact, so they remain sharp when zoomed in and can still be copied and searched.
I compressed my PDF but the size barely changed.
PDFs that are already compressed or mostly text have little room left to shrink. In that case the tool tells you the original is already smaller, and you can simply keep using the original.
How long does it take?
A few pages take a few seconds. A photo-heavy document of around 100 pages can take a few minutes. Progress is shown page by page.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
PDFs that ask for a password when opened cannot be compressed. Remove the password first, then try again.
Can I compress a PDF on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone's browser and pick a PDF with the Choose files button. The engine is downloaded once on first use, so Wi-Fi is recommended. Large documents with many pages are faster on a computer.
How is this different from other PDF compression sites?
Most PDF compression sites upload your file to their server, compress it there and send it back. This tool never uploads your file. It compresses it inside your browser, so you can safely shrink proposals, contracts and other documents you would rather not send anywhere. There is no sign-up and no daily limit.
